Thank you for all the recommendations. I really like violent musicals, so it was disappointing when there were romantic songs in Sweeney Todd. Are there any really violent musicals without romance?

Assassins has one love song, but as it's two deranged assassins singing about the people they're trying to kill for (a duet between Squeaky Frome singing to Charles Manson and John Hinkley singing to Jodie Foster), I don't really consider it 'romance'.

OP would probably not enjoy 'Parade', but people who like dark musicals and don't mind a little love mixed in might.

I believe there is an Evil Dead musical, but I don't know if it has romance.

Chicago? It's set in a women's prison in the 1920. Any references to love in it are pretty tongue-in-cheek, and there aren't many.

Seconding Chicago.

ETA: Oh and someone mentioned Repo: the Genetic Opera down thread. That is pretty much exactly what you described. Lots of violence and gore. The only romance is a love triangle between the main character's dad, the big bad, and the main character's mom who died years and years before the story begins, and the songs that involve said dead mother are not romantic.

I think Chicago is arguably the better film/musical, but I you'd really enjoy Repo based on what you described.

There is also The Devil's Circus, which by the same people as Repo. About three sinners who end up in Hell, which has been refurbished into a creepy carnival, where the sinners are forced to repeat their mistakes. The only relationship there is based on the Aesop fable The Frog and the Scorpion, so it's doomed from the start.
