OP would probably not enjoy 'Parade', but people who like dark musicals and don't mind a little love mixed in might.

ETA: Oh and someone mentioned Repo: the Genetic Opera down thread. That is pretty much exactly what you described. Lots of violence and gore. The only romance is a love triangle between the main character's dad, the big bad, and the main character's mom who died years and years before the story begins, and the songs that involve said dead mother are not romantic.
I think Chicago is arguably the better film/musical, but I you'd really enjoy Repo based on what you described.
