Re: What are your thoughts on non-binary genders?
By and large, we have two sexes, so two genders is a natural anchor point. (Even intersex people aren't really a third sex so much as just both sexes, biologically speaking). Gender - as in the social construction surrounding one's sex - is very much a spectrum, one which we've collectively simplified down to categories. In the modern world, those categories are a dichotomy, though many ancient societies did have a "third" option, one which was really a catch-all for anyone who drifted too far from the social construct connected to their biological sex.
Non-binary genders depend on genders being seen as mutually exclusive opposites - you have men/masculine, you have women/feminine, and if you aren't either of those then clearly you are something else. This is how the modern world is structured, hence the need for the concept of non-binary genders. That said, the reality of gender is that it's more of a spectrum than a dichotomy. This means that if you look at gender as "what it is" rather than "how most people see it", non-binary genders are effectively a moot-point/redundant, because there is no true binary to begin with.
