Well, what's it's saying is incorrect. English is a bastard amalgamation of the native dialects of the original denizens of England, then Olde French, Latin, and then one heaping giant of a German influence.

I mean seriously, it's actually classified as a Germanic language. How can that part be left out?

The original denizens of England are lost in the mists of time. The subsequent denizens spoke a form of Welsh. The next denizens spoke a Germanic language which later became English. English was heavily influenced by French after the Norman Conquest and, in the Enlightenment, large number of learned words were borrowed from Latin and Greek. It has never been heavily influenced by German. It is a Germanic language because its precursor language was Germanic, which is not the same thing as German.

Has the word 'Saxon' somehow become lost to the mists of time?

Historical roots of a language:
Saxon (German invasions) + French (Norman invasion) + Latin (Roman invasion) and some other Nordic languages (Viking invasions are fun, too!) = modern English, a result of centuries of invasions...

Has fandom secrets become an academic discussion forum? Not that I would object: academic discussions are always fun and may even be (rarely) instructive!

Actually, one of the (lesser used, I think) definitios of the word is rape so...it's not completely out there.

Yeah, that's true, "a pretty big difference" is an overstatement, I guess. I've mostly seen ravish used in consensual situation and I guess I've just separated the two. XD

Yeah - 98 WIPs? I'm not quite there yet (I have 30 WIPs perhaps?) but I feel you, OP.

Back to my writing for the day. Why does it always get so slow towards the end of a story? I start off writing more than 10x as fast at the start as at the end, and that is literal. I've been measuring my daily word count in an attempt to figure this out.

Started this current story at up to 9,000 words per day, averaging 3-6000 words per day for the first few weeks. Now at the end of the story, 450 words per day and glad to get them yesterday.
