The problem is that it often escalates really horribly, or most recently, people start trying to affix real world social justice issues on shipping and that is not only not fun, it's also pretty fucking stupid.

Idk I'd just rather everyone get on and let people do their own thing.

All the fandom fighting is damned boring to me.

Not only boring, if it escalates too much it can make what should be a fun space completely toxic. I've seen it happen and I don't like it.

Yeah, I've left fandoms where there is too much fighting. Toxic is the best word to describe it and it isn't fun at all.

I've left fandoms almost entirely except for one where the main writer himself came out and pretty much validated everything I said or viewed about the fandom. It was one of the best decisions I've ever made. All of my creativity and old joy is returning.

It's great because I feel free to ship whom I want to ship and the same for the few close friends I share my fandom with. We've been attacked in the past for our shipping. Now we feel validated and no one bothers us.
