Second the comment that big cities are good for being anonymous. People tend not to pay attention to you in big cities because... well, they just don't have the time, you know? Chicago is also a nice city to explore. You've got the Field Museum, Art Institute, Shedd Aquarium, Navy Pier...

Or if you want something more low key, why not pack yourself a picnic lunch and explore a park near you? Hit up Google Maps and see what's nearby/within driving distance. Most state parks have a website that tell you what trails they have as well as basic maps. You can walk around at your leisure, eat whenever and whatever you like and generally chill.

The Shedd Aquarium is really nice! But that's an excellent idea: exploring a park and just people watch! Or eat then walk around. There are a lot of parks, that sounds wonderful!

Ohh… then I just read that Pierogi Festival is right next to my birthday. It's a long drive but definitely something different. Duh self, you picked up the 2014 booklet of festivals in Indiana. Look through it!

See there are so many options. I need to knock myself around to pull up the britches and do it.
