Re: When will I be able to handle people hating the things I love?

...why the fuck would anyone "not trust" someone who wants a happy ending for a character? Like...what is even the logic behind that?

And no, that's not your problem. If she said "I hate my favorite characters to have happy endings" that's one thing. But not trusting people who like something different is something else entirely.

"Don't trust anyone who ____" is memetic phrasing at this point, I think. It's not always about literally not trusting, it's just a way to say "I strongly disagree with anyone who ___."

It's still annoying, though.

It still makes no sense, IMO. A lot of people like happy endings, so it should be obvious to that person why people like them, so unless they "strongly disagree" with probably 90% of everyone they know...

If 90% of the people I knew liked happy endings, I'd have a lot more to read.

That said, it's completely possible to strongly disagree with 90% of the people you know.

Sure, but to the point of saying you "don't trust them"?

Yeah, I take it in the same vein as "if you don't like _____, we can't be friends." Few people who say that mean it literally. I think this version, at least when said by this person, is less lighthearted and jokey, but no more literal.
