Yes, this. And I'd be strongly tempted to reply, "I can't trust people who make ridiculous value judgements like that." But I'm a cranky old bag who no longer let's other people make me feel bad over my harmless fannish opinions.

That might be my answer to OP as well: you'll be able to handle it when you get to be a cranky old bag. That might not be helpful.
