The Shoebox Project. Completely overrated. I don't think the characterization was right for anyone. And also seemed to go hand in hand with the obnoxious "almost canon" side of the Remus/Sirius fandom that made me hate the pairing.

I ship it, but only as a background pairing. I couldn't get through those fics.

I don't ship it mostly because I can't see it working and because I ship Sirius/James (mostly unrequited, but Sirius was just so totally focused on James that I can't see him being in love with Remus).

would sirius be soooo focused on james if sirius had the opportunity to grow up and wasn't tortured with his worst memories (which so happen to involve james) for 12 years. i mean, the sirius/james shipper arguments were nearly as whack as the sirius/remus ones.

but whatever, i actually did like sirius/remus back then and found SBP damm near unreadable.

Thank you. The fact that it seemed to be updated three times a year also wasn't that appealing.

The Shoebox Project just perplexed me. I had no idea what was going on, the way it was posted. Such a jumble of nothingness.

I liked Remus/Sirius as an idea but I have no idea how anyone could enjoy The Shoebox Project or why it was raved about.

I followed it as it was posted, when I was approx the age of the protagonists (as well as the writers I think). I haven't reread it in 6-7 years, I'm not saying it stands up for all time, especially since it was started way before the series was finished, but at the time I loved it and I don't think it was overrated. Maybe it didn't follow canon, but to me it kind of was canon- it was written before the pensieve scenes, before sirius even died I think??
imo fanfic doesn't necessarily have to be readable 10 years later to be great.

I'm pretty sure the Order was mentioned though, so I think it was actually post-Pensieve scene. I remember Gideon and Fabian Prewett were characters.

The pensieve scenes of the maurauders only started in HBP, which was published after they'd been writing for a year. Sirius had died in canon, though. I was wrong about that.

No, the Pensieve scene was definitely in OoTP. Remember? It was when Harry was being trained by Snape. Harry has a conversation with Sirius about ti afterwards. (I JUST re-read OoTP, so.)

Ugh, this. I liked their take on James/Lily, but the Sirius characterization drove me up a wall!
