not really TMI but body hair politics always irritated me. I never had a feminine role model or close girl friend when I was a teen girl, and shaving just looked crazy wasteful and expensive (at the time anyway). So I tried waxing for a few years. I'm a pale girl with dark hair everywhere so even shaving I had dark stubble right away and sometimes I wanted to look "normal" in a bikini ya know?
Anyway: bought an epilator a month or two ago and I'm really happy with it. A one time purchase and now I don't have to put aside a few hours to wax, I don't get stubble the next day, even my thickest hair is inconspicuous when it grows back so I can leave it for a week or two and just be vaguely grungy. I'm happy that where and how I have body hair feels like more of a choice, instead of a default because I'm too poor/disorganized/feminist that week.

And TIL what an epilator is after Googling. Personally, there are parts of me I can't stand hair on so I shave on a routine basis. It feels much nicer and is esthetically more pleasing to me, I find.

I wish I'd learned about epilators earlier!
fwiw I think some people's hair/skin is more suited to shaving. I don't like my armpit hair but waxing was all that ever worked for me.

because if I don't remove it it's seen as political, when it's more because i'm annoyed by how much of a pain in the ass it is.

I google it, and oh, I wish I could use something like that. I'm the same, pale, dark hair (everywhere+face).

But I just do not want to deal with the pain. I can't even really pluck my eyebrows.

It's not worth it, the pain of plucking and waxing or whatever else. Disposable razors for me.

I have an epilator but haven't used it. I don't think my legs are very hairy so I get away with not shaving it much, if at all, but I do have hair on my arms that I sometimes think I should shave. I also have crazy dark upper lip hair and my eyebrow hairs grow out fast. I'm too lazy to keep up with maintaining them regularly but I do feel judged when people see that my eyebrows aren't taken care of well, especially since the makeup/fashion industry seems to be obsessed with eyebrows right now.

sure! panasonic ES-WD94P (rechargable and waterproof). it works well and came with a bunch of attachments including a shaver and trimmer. I paid around $100, and I needed a new trimmer anyway.
