Yeah, and I absolutely loathe the whole "nerdy/loser guy has a crush on the most popular/pretty girl in school" trope and eventually he wins her over and they are happily ever after.

Yeah, especially as Rachel became steadily less and less like that girl, yet Ross almost seemed to still think of himself as having a crush on that girl. Which was also probably why he had so many jealousy issues. Rachel Green in high school totally would've cheated on Ross with that Mark guy.
