Andy/Erin had so much potential, both as a ship and in terms of character development. I don't know what happened, but you're right, they made Ross and Rachel look healthy. It doesn't help that Erin was so... childish, too. (And as a side note, I think they missed an opportunity for a cute Pam/Erin friendship with them. Erin was a bit like Pam was in the first two seasons, if more naive and ditzy, and it just would've been... cute. But I guess The Office wasn't that kind of show.)

I have no idea what the Senator storyline even was, especially given how appalled Oscar was when he first realized Angela was the Senator's beard. It just didn't seem like something Oscar would ever do.

As for Michael, it would've made sense had they always had that sort of love-hate relationship with him; the only ones who did, that we ever saw, were Pam and Jim. Everyone else either hated or ignored him.
