F!S Anon Meme (the Tenth?)

Secrets, rants, opinions, anything you want to say about your fandom or a fandom or fandom in general, do it here! Anonymously, of course. Get it all off your chest.

I'm running into this problem too, the casts of my stories are pretty diverse and I'm always afraid someone will take offense with something I've done.

And then I remind myself that no matter how precisely I portray anything, someone, somewhere, will take offense. So my plan is to make sure I have strong characterization, do research about the different cultures, and do the best that I can and be as respectful as I can. When I'm in doubt, I run it past some friends/acquaintances of mine in my writing circle and see what they think. Or I go to groups like little_details on LJ and see what bits of wisdom I can glean from them.

That's really all you can do about it.
