(For anyone who doesn't spend half their life on baking blogs like I do, a crumb-coat is a thin layer of frosting applied to a cake to seal in loose crumbs and create a smooth surface before the "real" layer of frosting is applied. It's not meant to look nice, because it's going to be frosted over again later. The cake is then refrigerated to firm up the crumb coat, and then it's ready to frost for real.)

Re: Post stuff you've made!
Here is the recipe for the bottom layer of the cake, and the chocolate ganache that goes between the layers.
I used a half-recipe of this cake for the top layer, and swirled a few spoonfuls (maybe 6oz?) of raspberry preserves through the batter just before baking. The added liquid means it wants a few extra minutes in the oven.
This is the frosting recipe; I added a whole 10-oz jar of raspberry preserves, plus 1 1/2 tsp. of raspberry flavoring, and some food coloring, to the recipe. I still have some leftover frosting (it makes a lot!), but I'm not sure a half-recipe would've been enough. It gave me enough left to play with a bit of fancy piping, anyway.
So yeah. Flourless cake layer, spread with the preserves left over from the jar used to swirl through the DF cake, then pipe a layer of frosting around the edge of the cake to hold in the ganache. Pour the ganache in and tilt the cake around to spread it evenly, then settle the DF layer on top. Do a quick crumb-coat of frosting and let it hang out in the fridge for 20-30 minutes, and then frost and decorate. I thought using chocolate chips and fresh raspberries to decorate was a cute sort of way to hint at the flavors inside.

why wasn't I invited so I could eat someIf there's ever a F!S meetup local enough to me that I can reasonably attend, I'll be happy to bake for the occasion! ^_^
Re: Post stuff you've made!
(also, there was some talk about a meetup on the anon meme today...people keep talking about it. I wonder if it would ever happen. I'd love to do it, but don't know about spending the money to travel if it's really far...)
Re: Post stuff you've made!
And yeah, I'd definitely be up for going to a meetup if it was close enough that I could drive to it, but spending huge amounts of money on travel is less of a thing.

I picture you looking just like Sebastian Stan, only a lady.eh, people know my face if they did the "post a pic" thread a while back.
I'd be more nervous about people knowing my name, but hey, if you meet someone irl, it's only appropriate. :P
