Seriously? I like mice. I used to keep them as pets. But a) they're basically vermin and nowhere near endangered and b)if I'm reading this correctly and OP works in a scientific lab with animal test subjects: If tests on mice can find ways to cure cancer, or Alzheimer or whatever - I'm cool with that. It's not callous, it's just that most people value human life over that of a mouse. Just like most people eat meat - I don't see much difference between killing for food and killing to save human lives in the long run.

Depends on the mouse. Your average field mouse is totally vermin, but there are several types of mice on the protected species list.

Sure, but those are not used in medical trials. In fact, mice and rats used for that purpose were specifically bred to be lab animals and couldn't even survive in the wild very well.

I know you're probably trolling, but I actually agree. Even if animal testing is necessary, it ought to be treated as a necessary evil. The thought of having fun killing animals is a bit sickening.
