I hate this argument as though there is only a small amount of compassion to go around. I care about animal rights. I also care about human rights. It's not an either/or proposition.

As far as the OP goes, if the mice are being killed with a minimum of pain and suffering in their lives, I can wish it didn't have to happen, but understand that it does.

Ok, people who get up in arms about the (humane) killing of mice for experiments that might help cure cancer or whatever probably need a priority check, but in general the phrase "shouldn't you be focused on human rights??" bugs me a little because there ARE animal rights issues* that are actually important.

*your definition of "animal rights" is kind of important though now that I think about it
