(At this point I'm wondering if I should...)

IMO, it's not worth it. The writing went down the drain during the 2nd part of season 2 and season 3 starts off as promising, but it just gave the OUAT fans a mixed bag of results (plus ABC being part of Disney, wants to reel in a certain ice movie as a cash cow to lure fans back into the series though that was a spoiler...opps). Plus, as you've said, Hook irritates me, especially the way he treated Emma and the way the writers really forced the whole relationship, made me a tad uncomfortable.

For me, I've just stopped watching and moved on to other things.

Agreed, 100% not worth it. I was a huge fan of this show and I was willing to overlook a lot of things, but it got worse and worse and the S3 finale sealed the deal that it was never going to get better. )8

I keep wanting to give it up and keep getting dragged back in. I really liked the second season 3 arc and a lot of things about that part of the season (pretty much everything apart from the Hook/Emma stuff and the Emma keeping Henry from his memories and wanting to take him back to NY and generally being unlikeable parts). But then the season 3 final was awful. So I might give it up. But it might drag me back in again.

I've seen all but around four episodes of season 3, I think, but I'm just completely unmotivated to finish it up. I even have the episodes on my DVR so I should just to know what the hell is going on and judge it for myself, but it's taking a while for me to work up to it.

Had season three had a lot more Mulan or Aurora, and a lot less Hook and Zelena I would probably dig it more. The only current romantic relationship I enjoy is Snow/Charming (and I actively dislike the others), so...this season was disappointing for me.

Not sure if it's just me, but Zelena was not in the least a compelling villain either, so that hurt this season too.

You didn't spoil me, either, btw; I had heard about Elsa. That might be the only reason I want to catch up, tbh. (And I'm not a massive Frozen fan either, but...I'm curious.)

Interesting. I felt that way about Peter Pan. I found him really irritating. I liked Zelena a lot and found her a refreshing change from Hook.

I like Snow/Charming, though I find them dull at times. I ship a bunch of non-canon things like Aurora/Mulan. And I really fell in love with Robin/Regina. Which, I know, but I can't seem to help it.

But then, the season 3 final was awful enough that I'm not sure I'm going to watch season 4. We'll see.

I didn't like Peter either actually, and the Neverland plot went on for way too long. Can't believe I'm saying this, but Regina was a much more solid villian than everyone we've got since. (I am not a big Regina fan, but...she was more natural in the role.)

I didn't care for Zelena's backstory or the whole time travel thing, but I can easily see why you would prefer her over Hook.

I'm into Aurora/Mulan as well! Sad that Mulan seems to have been forgotten about...I wanted to see if the show was ever going to pair her up with anyone else.

Same.

I do hope they bring Mulan back. I think they had the same problem with her that they had with Ruby's actress. She has another show right now. But Ruby did make a season 3 cameo, so it could be done.

I admit I really like Regina. But I really, really love redemption arcs. Season 2's version of it was badly done (I liked the idea of magic as addictive, but they never followed through), but I think it did work in season 3 at least for me.

I don't hate Hook, but I hate him with Emma and I hate what the pairing them together has done to him. He was interesting as a villain with a sympathetic backstory and kind of interesting as starting to redeem himself. But they seem to have decided to go for the "mostly never really was evil" woobie route and it just isn't working and is making me start to hate him.

IA, if they want Mulan back they could probably make it work, as long as the actress is up for it. And I think she would be; she seemed to enjoy the role (and Mulan/Aurora).

I like season three Regina better than season one or two Regina, but I'm a stubborn person that holds onto things and don't think I can ever truly like her. (Most the fandom does though, so, you know...you aren't the odd man out in this situation!)

People do like redemption arcs though, and I do too if they're well done. They're improving, I think...at least with Regina. (The show doesn't follow through with lots of things, lol.)

IDK what it is about OUAT that makes the writers think every antagonist or villain needs a redemption arc. I know that isn't strictly the case, not every single one has been given one, but it's starting to feel that way. And tbh, I think they're shit at it.

God Zelena was a mess. She could've been a cool villain.

If she weren't the magical secret older sister of Regina and evil partly because Rumple didn't love her enough. Ew. Ew everywhere.

The worst offender of the whole ordeal was the fact she was killed off BEFORE the season final, just so Hook and Emma could have ridiculous back-to-the-future funtimes. Aeugh.

I'm liking the sound of this finale less and less.

I figured she would be killed in the finale, in some giant stand off or something. Not that I liked her much, but she deserved that much at least.

If she weren't the magical secret older sister of Regina and evil partly because Rumple didn't love her enough.

IA wholeheartedly. Wish she'd been given something more interesting and unusual, but then again...this is OUAT.
