I dislike companions who like the Doctor in a romantic way. That's my main reason for disliking her.

So the only New Who companion you like is Donna?

There is also Mickey....except in my fanfic.

(Anonymous) 2014-07-18 11:10 pm (UTC)(link)
And Amy and Rory.

I believe technically just Rory, Amy did try to one-night-stand him just before her wedding.

(Anonymous) 2014-07-18 11:20 pm (UTC)(link)
But she only wanted to have sex with him, she wasn't in love with him.

And you know this because???

(Anonymous) 2014-07-18 11:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Because I watch the show???

What part of the show indicated that it was just sex? She spent years obsessing over her raggedy Doctor.

She was annoyingly favoring the Doctor most of the time and ignoring Rory until, like, the last few eps where the writers finally realized she was being stupid the whole time so they cheaply tried to sell us the whole "No, I love Rory" thing that I didn't buy at all.

Clara (newest one) said she fancied him. On a truth field thing, not even willingly. That's it. She didn't whine for us all the time like Martha or didn't try to force him into doing things for her like Amy. And fancied could also just mean adored not like oh so in love.

(Anonymous) 2014-07-19 02:06 am (UTC)(link)
She could have just thought he had a nice arse.

yes, Donna is awesomesauce

(Anonymous) 2014-07-18 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Nooooooooooo don't tell me Clara does the whole soap opera nuttiness too.

Regardless of the Internet hate, or the characters in and of themselves, Eleven and all his companions were robbed by the lousy writing. It was worse than Six!

okay let's not go crazy here

AYRT

I know what I said. Trial of a Timelord looks like Shakespeare compared to The Angels Take Manhattan.

(Anonymous) 2014-07-18 11:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Well I suppose we'll find out when the first episode of next season airs, but unless Capaldi actually chokes Clara out...

I mean the writing under the Saward/Nathan-Turner team set a really, really high bar for incompetence, you know?

Note, also, that they were actively trying to kill the show at the time. What's Moffat's excuse? Oh, right, he has none. Except for the unfortunate fact that he seems unable to plot his way out of a paper bag.

(Anonymous) 2014-07-18 11:38 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm pretty sure Saward and Nathan-Turner weren't trying to kill the show. The higher-ups wanted to, and that may excuse the low budget and poor special effects etc, but it's not much of an excuse for shoddy writing.

TBH though I don't hate Moffat that much as a writer, so I'm not the best person to go to here. He has flaws - goes back to the well for the same kind of stories and characters too frequently, too obsessed with twist endings, only rarely able to actually land twist endings - but I don't feel burning unending rage towards him.

Meh, I don't feel "burning unending rage" for Moffat, either, nonny. Didn't mean to give that impression. All of the reasons you state are the reasons I don't like Moffat's writing. And given that my time is valuable to me, and I don't really want to waste it any more than I already do, I don't really want to feel like I've wasted an hour of my life I'm never gonna get back. Which is exactly how I feel after I watch a Moffat episode. Soooo...I don't watch? Not anymore, anyway.

According to the leaked scripts, it was more him hitting on Clara than the other way around.

(Anonymous) 2014-07-19 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
she admitted her feelings for him on the truth planet

(Anonymous) 2014-07-19 12:08 am (UTC)(link)
IIRC all she really admitted is that she fancies him. Which is not really 'feelings', just that she thinks he's cute.

(Anonymous) 2014-07-19 12:36 am (UTC)(link)
... which he is...

Or was...

(Anonymous) 2014-07-19 10:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Hey, can you please at least put in your subject line spoilers for the leaked stuff? Some of us have chosen not to seek it out. Okay? Thanks.

(Anonymous) 2014-07-21 11:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Aw well, in that case. No.

Oh and they are shrunk and do a fantastic voyage plot, going inside an actual Dalek's body in episode 2 where the Doctor flat out murders a man.

Oh by the way. Spoiler warning is at the top of the page, soon as you saw a Who secret you should have been wary of spoilers.

And the Master is coming back as a woman too.
