So you're basically saying that because it doesn't take much effort for her to look exceedingly acceptable, she shouldn't care that she has to make that effort.

If Mystique gained weight, would using her mutant ability still make her look acceptable? Or would she just become That Chick Who Would Be Cute If She Weren't So Fat? I've been wondering. It's not like she's Wasp and can shed size at will.

In XMFC, she shapeshifted into an adult when she was a child. In the new X-Men movie, she used her shapeshifting abilities to look like someone about half her height. I don't think the size of the person she's imitating is actually that important, or has anything to do with her size.

I remember reading an article ages ago in some now dead Sci-Fi magazine talking about how shapeshifters never take pesky little things like physics into consideration and how the amount of energy for an average human sized creature to turn into even a "slightly more muscular" creature was enormous. I just remember laughing at the line, "Remember, don't shoot shapeshifters. They explode."

I always just assumed she could change her size however, but her weight would stay the same. Child-Mystique assuming the appearance of an adult would still have a child's weight, but would be much less dense because it's spread out.

Superhero physics are fun.
