HOW ON EARTH DO YOU MAKE FANDOM FRIENDS?!
(Anonymous) 2014-07-19 11:21 pm (UTC)(link)i'm wary of making a "send me an ask or follow me if you like #bishounen #lumberjacks with #glasses #heterochromia and #catears!" post on tumblr because there are a lot of weirdos in my fandoms. :( i also don't want to look like a loser by advertising the fact that i'm looking for like-minded people.
what else can i do?

You can always try to find friends on tumblr, but because of the interface I feel like it isn't the greatest place to try and connect with people. Some people do manage it though, and beautifully, so I guess it just depends on how you feel about tumblr personally, if you know the site well and are willing to make the effort.
Good luck!
(Oh! And there's nothing loser like about introducing yourself. Lots of people are always looking for fandom friends, whether they already have them or not.)

To make friends, you have to be a friend! Yes, it can be tiring to always put yourself out there, but it does work. ^^
Re: HOW ON EARTH DO YOU MAKE FANDOM FRIENDS?!
To be completely honest though, my current compadres more or less happened to me rather than me being proactive about it. I've been on lj and other sites long enough making driveby comments about things without thinking too much about keeping up convos, but nowadays I do tend to be the one that's approached out of the blue (eg: an old TinierMe friend had walked up to me in-town and just went, "You're my friend now :)" And, well, we got along so well they must have had psychic brainwaves :O). I wasn't when I was younger, but I'm pretty introverted online. A lot of the friends I made probably have more to do with happenstance (showing up to stream, being in the right party with so-and-so future chucklefuck bros, generally being active sometimes, and joining community events).
If anything, just mingle. Reblog things with commentary, send asks or fanmail whatever, and just don't overthink about approaching others.
