Money!

Anyone got any tips on how to add to your income. I think get another job can be discounted as the obvious answer.

It's the most obvious answer because it's probably the easiest while still being legal. I mean... you could donate plasma, haunt estate sales/yard sales/curb crawl for stuff to sell on Ebay, dumpster dive to supplement your food income, learn to make something to sell on etsy, etc. But you have to ask yourself: would any of those options earn more than say, $5/hour? No?

Then you should seriously consider getting a job that pays at least that much if not more.

Here's some things I've done that weren't regular jobs.

- selling toilet roll door to door
- busking after learning the instrument for only 2 days (it worked!)
- having a stall in the local market where I sold (my own) art
- making jewelry to order/painting t-shirts to order through church meetings/notice boards
- selling old possessions on ebay

Busking made by far the most money but you have to be determined. Small towns are surprisingly good places. You might be the first busker they've ever seen.

I sell stuff on redbubble/society6. Also there are paid survey sites like crowdology. It's not much, but it does help a little.

Blood/plasma donation, participating in survey rounds (like where they invite people about certain topics for research purposes), participating in medical studies... uhm yeah. Working as an extra is not really a job either.

You can get money for donating blood and plasma? From who/where? All they give me is cookies.

Could you get a housemate? Other than that, pet sitting could earn you some money, so would other people go to vacation type of stuff (watering neighbours plants, taking in the mail and such), you might not earn a lot doing it, but it isn't time consuming also cleaning/running errands for people.

On a more controlled way: If your city/country have a service for handicapped/old and/or children in need to have a what is called in Norwegian "support aid", who spends a couple of hours a month with an individual doing things they are not able to do on their own (going to the cinema, weekly shopping, just going out to see people).

In a similar thought, it will take a bit (and depending on your financial/age/living situation) you could get certified through the Child Protective Service, should have a program in place for kids who need someone to go to one or twoish weekends a month (either because their parents or siblings are sick, or other reasons to why they can't be at home full time, or they are already in the system and have no one to visit).

Dunno how helpful this was, I am not completely sure how much these kinds of things transfer across borders.

Depends if you're looking for the quick way or the long way. Yes, getting another job is the quick way. The long way is to upgrade your education, make new networking connections, and get not just another job, but a better job.
