I preferred Gou to Kou from the beginning since it fits in with the boys' name theme, but I'm still disappointed that the matter is just dropped out of exasperation. If she had decided that she liked her name as it was given, I would be pleased, but to have her just give up because people refuse to respect her wishes? Ugh.

My name has two common pronunciations too-- one is the way to pronounce my name and the other isn't. I'm not going to have a fit if someone gets it wrong, but I am going to correct them and expect them to defer to that correction. I'd say anyone else's name the way it's meant to be said too. That's just courtesy.

Technically there's no canon explanation for why it was dropped. I think the writers just forgot about it or decided it was getting boring and they didn't want to bother.

ayrt

It's been a while since I watched the first season, but I distinctly remember Nagisa calling her Gou and her starting to correct him but then giving up halfway through the sentence, looking comically defeated and saying to just forget it. That's the last time it ever comes up.

Out of universe, I agree that the writers probably just got bored with the joke.
