I don't agree, but I know a shitton of gamers who do, young and old, male and female. You'd think more games would have a co-op mode as a result, since it's such a big selling point for the games that do have it (like Borderlands).

I guess I wouldn't mind if the PvP was optional and not a huge part of the game. However, I find in a lot of things this is not the case. It's frustrating.

Hmm, yeah. Co-op is something I can get behind.

Just curious what games PvP is it not optional? Most games seem to either have separate servers for those who want to play PvP, the player can choose to turn it off/on, it's a side mode to the main story/game, or the entire game is meant to be PvP (like MOBA games).

Hmm, for example, Wakfu. I play that game. I have a level 99 healer. That doesn't stop any 140 fighter from coming upon me and PKing me for shits and giggles. There's nothing I can do about it. The only way I could be not-PKed is if I stayed in the starter area the whole time.

Another? Well, In WoW I remember hearing my friends complain that they had to go through a PvP land in order to get to another PvE area they needed to get to. That's obsolete now though, as far as I understand it.

Ah, yeah, I seem to remember something like that from the short amount of time I played Wakfu.

Although, in WoW IIRC you'd only get flagged if you went into enemy cities. There were dedicated PvP zones, but there was no reason to be in them if you weren't going to PvP. So, they were completely optional. Unless your friends were playing on a PvP server. In friendly territory you wouldn't be flagged unless you stepped into contested territory. Basically, WoW PvP has pretty much been largely optional.

But it still remains that I don't think there are many games where PvP isn't optional, unless the entire game is meant to be PvP. Even then those games have been getting PvE modes. Like Hearthstone recently got a PvE addition and CoD games have campaign modes.

Yeah, I'm just glad I'm part of a nice guild so that this stuff doesn't happen often.

*shrug* Yeah, well, apparently Nightscale had an issue with it being part of a quest in WoW recently. It may not happen often but it happens enough to be very irritating.
