A friends of mine is really into "Major Crimes" but I have zero interest in that show. There's too many dudes/too few women for my taste. Another big reason is that I watched about two episodes of "The Closer" (its predecessor) and the shaky cam made me physically sick. Also in some scenes they seem to have an aversion to letting a shot last more than 5 seconds, drives me nuts.

Shaky cam can be a huge deterrent for some people. My sister tried to watch the Blair Witch Project once and ended up throwing up.

AYRT

I accidentally watched Cloverfield with some friends (we spontaneously went to the cinema and picked that without knowing what it was about) and I swear the whole theater cheered when that monster ate the guy with the cam. I have a pretty strong stomach so I didn't throw up but that experience was horrible.

Ugh, shaky cam is the worst. So many headaches, so much nausea :(

And I can't follow a show with too many quick cuts.

Hmm, I don't find the shaky cam on The Closer/Major Crimes to be that bad- it is present, especially in their openings (along with the rapid cutting), which are often meant to reflect the crime scene footage they're taking- but beyond that it usually settles down.

However, TNT's other LA-area cop show Southland had such extreme shaky cam that it made me queasy. I normally have quite a decent tolerance for it, so this was some intense shaking, and not even during a chase scene or something. I wanted to like the characters/story, but I couldn't even make it through the whole episode. Also it had some really ugly color filtering/saturation going on.

Southland had shaky cam? I did not notice that. I vaguely recall shaky cam in the first episode and the one where the reporters were following that one cop team (Cooper and Lucy Liu?), but nothing else comes to mind. Huh.

Shaky came makes me motion sick too. Also the 360 circle camera turns around actors makes me a little queasy. Not really the Michael Bay turn because it's slow motion, but the ones that seem to last forever for no real reason.
