Whoo-hoo! But wait. I haven't watched Digimon since it was on Fox Kids, oh, fifteen years ago. I watched season 1, season 2, and some of season 3. I remember being shocked because season 3 claimed that season 1 and season 2 were just a TV show that kids watched, and weren't actually real.

...does that mean it is real? What is the Digimon canon?

also hopefully they throw out the season 2 garbage ending. Whoever wrote that was hopefully fired, etc.

That whole seasons one and two being a tv show within a tv show was a dub only thing iirc.

Really? That seems like a strange thing to add. I've only seen the dubs (which I love, so I'm not necessarily compelled to go watch the Japanese versions) but I did hear they took a lot of liberties in adapting them for American children's TV.

The only thing we know in the Japanese version of Tamers is that there is a fictional Digimon property. The dub explicitly references this property as being Adventure/02, to add continuity, I guess.

Well, consider that Ryo made his way between the Adventure canons and the Tamers canon somehow, so I think it's not that one is "real" and one isn't. More like they're parallel universes.

I never finished season 3 so never found out if that was resolved or not. But I remember the season 3's protagonist's teacher had Kari's voice actor and she even looked like a grown up version of Kari, so I wondered if maybe they found it it was actually real...

...but then again, that stupid season 2 ending that gave everyone in the world a digimon, that would've had to have been completely retconned (and that's okay).
