People lives are at stake, so I do not see it as a joking matter. That whomever is inventing aliases for these workers is probably seeing it as a joke too makes it even worse.

Whomever OP is, I totally understand their point and I wish more people in fandom did. Fandom is for our personal entertainment and fun, but not worth someone else's livelihood...

That's... weirdly creative - for fake identification, anyway. That said, I wonder if the fake ID person realizes the first sharp-eyed employer or IRS clerk could blow the whole schmeer for a lot of people.

A W-4 has a social security number on it. That means someone's legit number is being used without their permission. After watching a co-worker spend damn near six months clearing up his credit after some douche got his number, I don't find this as funny as you do.

You want to use a fake ID to get into a club and drink, I don't care. But not only is this fraud, but it could potentially screw up some innocent person's life if that number is used not just for withholding, but for opening electrical & water accounts, renting an apartment, or what have you and racking up bills that don't get paid.

In the name of all the people who've been bitten in the ass by this kind of fraud, which is in no way a victimless crime, I hope you get fired.
