I like when they're coerced by threats and end up getting some pleasure out of it in spite of themselves. And aliens made them do it.

I'll read ones where they get pleasure out of it, but that isn't usually what I want. I want awful and pain and often situations where the rapist is specifically doing it to hurt them. And then I want healing.

I just like the psychological torture aspect of them enjoying it. I could intellectualize it and talk about how it's an interesting take on the subject in a climate where people act like it can't be rape if you enjoy it and it's good to see narratives that know it's rape even in that situation, but really there's just something about the scenario that works for me.

Oh, I totally get there. I like psychological stuff, but the stuff in that vein I like is usually about one character being psychologically tortured by being forced to watch others raped/tortured.

I guess maybe because for me getting turned on by being raped seems a natural physical reaction, and while I get that for many people it causes issues, I have trouble getting into that mindset when reading a fic. It isn't something I actively avoid, but it doesn't hit any buttons for me.

Oh yeah, I like these types, too.

I'll add heat-induced sex (A/B/O or sex-pollen type) to the 'alien made them do it' too.

I've never looked into A/B/O even though it's got a lot of tropes that I like. Could be because I've researched actual wolf dynamics that aren't based on a faulty study and the misconceptions about the alpha, etc stuff annoys me. Or maybe I just can't take knotting seriously. I should still take a look though.

Yeah, admittedly there's a lot of suspension of disbelief that needs to happen in A/B/O fics.

It's pretty fascinating how fandom can just co-create this whole trope, though. I'm still intrigued about how it all started. I know fanlore said it started as a prompt in an SPN kinkmeme (or something), but who was it that came up with it? Why did they came up with it? Where did it come from? Was there something in original erotica that're similar to that, and they're just applying it to fanfic? I'm curious.

I don't know but I find this stuff fascinating too.
