Unless you're harassing the BNF about it, I don't think you're petty, OP. Everyone, I imagine, wants more fic of their favorite pairings, so of course you're going to be a bit annoyed that a previous source of good works has now shifted away. Your feelings are understandable and having a preference isn't an issue.

If you were pestering the BNF, I think that would be a different story, though, because that would be rather entitled behavior.

Don't have much else to say, but I don't see how this is petty. You're allowed to have preferences, and if this means there will be less fic of your favorite pairing then your reaction seems pretty normal. As long as you aren't trying to cause wank or harassing someone, you're fine.
