I both read and write het a lot more than slash (I don't really have slash goggles and rarely seek out slash, but will read it if I think a fic sounds interesting).

And does good het fanfic actually exist?

I don't know if this is some weak attempt at wank baiting or if you just have your goggles on too tight, but of course there is good het fanfic. Why wouldn't there be? There's both plenty of really good het and terribly bad, just as there is good and bad slash/fanart/whatever. Sometimes you just have to dig a bit deeper to find it where it's buried beneath all the crap. But you won't find it if you come in with an attitude of "does good het fanfic actually exist" :)

For fandoms with good het I've had fairly good experiences with both MCU and Harry Potter, even though it gets drowned out by the slash (especially in the MCU fandom)
