Yeah, probably should've mentioned that I'm not a fan of that either. I get usually really distracted when a fic has too many pairings running around, but I kind of don't mind it with femme, since some of the fandoms that I read fic for are really lacking in the femslash department. So there are times when I just go "Ugh. Fine. I don't care if it's barely there, at least I managed to find some femmeslash buried underneath all this het and slash."

If I don't see the chemistry, or the potential behind it, I'm just not interested or invested in side pairings. Or obligatorily slash, because that's what it sounds like you're describing. I see that in a lot of dude-centric fandoms with limited lady characters (who barely interact), and I guess I'm not desperate for f/f in those. m/m has it's own version, any two white dicks will auto collide in fanfic lol, and it's also just as boring to me.
