My city is one of the ones targeted in this stupid purge thing and everyone around here is losing their collective shit so I think I'm going to spend the weekend at home. (Which is fine, I probably would've anyway; it just annoys me that I feel like I have to.) It's not that I'm worried about the "purge" so much as I am idiots with guns just looking for an excuse to shoot someone.

People are such fucking dumbasses.

Yeah, it's crazy. Someone posted a link to the local police scanner radio on Twitter, and it's nonstop, just one report after another. So far there's been reported a guy with a mask threatening to cut people's fingers off, a guy in a mask and an ANARCHY t-shirt going door to door harassing people, reports of gunshots, a boy walking around with knives and hammers threatening his neighbors, a group of teenagers causing trouble at a convenience store, another group of teenagers harassing people at businesses, two young guys being assaulted, someone going around stealing cell phones, and a couple other "suspects" wanted for something, I didn't hear what. It's just insane, and kind of scary.

Someone decided to make a "joke" on Facebook about having a real life version of the movie The Purge (where all crime is legal for a certain period of time) and it exploded on social media and now it's actually happening. Obviously not legal but people are going fucking nuts here. I'm listening to the local police scanner and it's nonstop reports. A few people have been shot and killed, houses broken into, people setting cars on fire and breaking windows, people in masks with weapons terrorizing neighborhoods. They just announced someone else was killed, a teenage girl jumped out of a car with injuries, a liquor store was robbed...stuff is literally being announced faster than I can type it. I've never seen anything like this in my life and it's scaring the hell out of me.
