why would anyone in their right mind squee over that soggy piece of bread Skye?

Jesus Christ what do you people have against bread? Bread is fucking delicious.

I haven't had carbs in months and I'm fucking dying for it.

lmao

Sorry, but if it helps you're a brave person and I don't know how you do it.

On topic, Skye grew on me a lot in the second half of the season. Maybe it was the writing or the actress (or both), but I genuinely enjoy everyone on that show in one way or another. ...Well, my feelings for Ward are pretty much that I was liking him alright and now I want to punch him in the face, but I don't judge anyone for wanting him to get a redemption arc. (Even though I'm not sure I agree he should have one.)

I would be ok with a really well-written redemption arc for Ward but only if they don't pair him up with Skye. And it kinda looks like they've been planning to do that. But if they don't go that route, I'll applaud them. Skye deserves so much better and it would be better to portray her as completely writing him off romantically from this point forward and moving on. It'd be healthier for her and provide more agency.

I haven't been keeping up on SHIELD news (I need to check the premiere date) so I don't know what they have planned for Ward (and Ward and Skye), but yea, after the rape threats I do not want him anywhere near her. Or Fitz and Simmons, or May... If I'm being entirely honest I don't want him back on the team at all, I would rather he just stay a villain if he's going to be kept in the cast, and although I frequently enjoy redemption arcs, in this case I think it's kind of unnecessary. It's making me go, "Oh, this again...whatever." I guess it could be well written and intriguing, but as of right now I'm not looking forward to it.

Oh I definitely don't want him anywhere on the team.

Because she's awesome. I love her. Actually, I love every main character on this show.

I wouldn't say she's my favourite, but she definitely turned a corner later in the season when they actually had her doing hacker shit (having ostensibly brought her on board because she's a genius super hacker) instead of putting an untrained girl with dubious loyalty they found on the street out as a field agent.

Good lord the writing in the early season was abysmal.

+1

Though I have to say, I thought that the characterizations of both Coulson and Fitz went downhill in the second half of the season, despite the generally better writing. It seems I'm destined to always hate at least half of the main cast. :-P

Yeah Coulson for sure went downhill and I can kind of see what you mean about Fitz, but I still like him.

Oh god I got so sick of Coulson by the end of AoS, it probably doesn't help that I was mostly ambivalent towards the dude so I think for me it's just too much of him by this point.

But I like most of the rest of the cast so I know I'll be watching next season.

I've learned many things from AoS, one being that Coulson should never have been a lead character. I just didn't find him all that interesting. When he died in Avengers my reaction was more "well, who else could die in the very first team-up picture?!" than the big NOOOOOOOOO FU JOSS of fandom.

Same, I just... didn't care all that much. Like I felt bad for the Avengers who were affected by his death but other than that I was more of 'eh' about the whole thing.

(Anonymous) 2014-08-17 04:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah I agree with this. I haven't ever said it before - I figured it was fandom heresy. But I think a large part of the problem with the show is Coulson. He just isn't an interesting or charismatic enough character to build a show around. He works fine as a supporting character, but he just (at least in my opinion) doesn't have enough personality for a lead.

(Anonymous) 2014-08-16 09:40 pm (UTC)(link)
it gets better? I gave up like 6 or 7 eps in.
ariakas: (Default)

[personal profile] ariakas 2014-08-16 09:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah around the halfway point. The first couple of eps weren't even mediocre - they were straight up bad. I was hatewatching out of boredom at the point the show surprised me by getting decent.

(Anonymous) 2014-08-17 01:37 am (UTC)(link)
It gets worse mid-season, then the post-CA2 eps are suddenly awesome. They should have just had a short season.
