They're just *looking* for something to get their knickers in a twist about. They just want to be in a mode of self-righteousness because being self-righteous alleviates their self-esteem problems or whatever personal issue they have, and they are trying to find material to be self-righteous about. It doesn't really have anything to do with their real opinions, I'm pretty sure.

sort of spoilers?

I remember someone calling the movie misogynist. There justification was when Drax called Gamora a whore (which from what I read was because Drax heard prisoners calling her a whore and he takes everything literally) and because Chris Pratt called a character a bitch? I don't even know when that happened, tbh.

Yes, Drax takes everything literally. Nothing goes over his head, his reflexes are too fast for that.

Near the end with "You said it yourself, bitch. We're the Guardians of the Galaxy."

And that was to Ronan.

Still a sexist slur, though

I just find it kind of weird that bitch and whore were obviously universal insults. You mean to tell me that in the entire universe there's not enough species that don't demonize 'bitches' and 'whores' to where it would be like calling someone "Hey! Affluent dude!" "Wha?" "Oh, you see we have a steryotype of rich people as having really bad body odor so it's saying they don't bathe enough." "Oh... ok"

I think it's a language translation thing. In English, which Starlord/Peter and the audience speak, 'bitch' is used to mean someone who is... unreasonably aggressive, belligerent, and for a man, wimpy/a loser.

So, since canonically (at least in the comics) everybody uses some kind of universal translator to get through the day... who knows, maybe in Gamora's native language he called Ronan a fruit-humper or something.

It's kind of a sexist movie, but I wouldn't go that far.

I wish I had secret mind-reading powers. It's a perfectly reasonable thing for someone to be disappointed about, why on earth should it be about the objector's "self-esteem problems"?

Ad hominem attack = no real argument, pal.
