This secret reminds me of something I read on Cracked.com...
(Anonymous) 2014-08-20 11:21 pm (UTC)(link)"Even in a movie as weird as Guardians of the Galaxy, we need a white dude with guns to guide us through. The only women or non-evil minorities who show up are buried under make-up or CGI. What the hell? Between this and Avatar, Zoe Saldana is turning into a less pretentious Andy Serkis."
Pic of Zoe Saldana with Caption: "Holy shit, Zoe Saldana's black?"

Were these literally the founders of this group? Or is it like any other comic continuity where they just throw anyone in and call it a reboot?

I get the annoyance of having Saldana be the token black sci fi chick and then not even be visibly black in them.

While I'd love to see Mantis, my money is on it being Phyla-Vell (as Quasar, side-stepping the Mar-Vell/Captain Marvel thing altogether). Or, they may end up pulling a Yondu and use the name of a character from the original/future team, but re-adapt them for the MCU.

(Anonymous) 2014-08-22 07:07 pm (UTC)(link)-Star Lord has always been a white guy with guns. THAT IS THE CHARACTER.
-Shown members of the Nova Corps were black. A woman was fucking Nova Prime, one of the most influential roles in the whole movie. Gamora was one of the most progressive female action characters in years, if not the entire history of the industry.
I can't believe how shitty Cracked has gotten to appeal to the SJW crowd.
