It isn't like Gamora is green in the canon of course. That can't be it. I bet had she been a white actress they would have let her stay as white as the freshly driven snow! Just like how they changed Nebula white so that they could show off how white her actress was. Oh....wait......

And Zoe Saldana played a BLUE cgi character in Avatar? HOW DARE THEY! No one else had to play blue characters! :< If only someone would cast Zoe Saldana in a movie where she is not a CGI character. IF ONLYYYYYY!!!! Why does she only have these two roles in her filmography??????

Now I know shit all about the comics, I admit that, and I also admit that i've seen an article (i'll try to find it) that has some other Guardians that could have been included including a presumably black woman with brown skin who was apparently bisexual? (& Mantis, who was still green, but presumably was from an ""Asian"" inspired place)

Were these literally the founders of this group? Or is it like any other comic continuity where they just throw anyone in and call it a reboot?

This was most of the founding members of the relatively modern version of the group the movie was based on, yes.

Looks like they are using the GOTG 2008 team. Starlord, Rocket Raccoon, Gamora, Drax, and Groot were all founding members. The were two more founding members. Adam Warlock a sort of orange guy and Phyla-Vell (Quasar) who seems to be a white woman. Or white alien who is the child of some alternate universe Captain Marvel and someone else.

iirc, James Gunn said they'd probably bring in another member from the DnA era (pre-Marvel Now! soft reboot) of the title for the sequel.

While I'd love to see Mantis, my money is on it being Phyla-Vell (as Quasar, side-stepping the Mar-Vell/Captain Marvel thing altogether). Or, they may end up pulling a Yondu and use the name of a character from the original/future team, but re-adapt them for the MCU.

If they bring in Phyla, it'd be a great opportunity to bring in Moondragon, as well, who has the advantages of being 1) Phyla's girlfriend, 2) plausibly interpretable as Asian, and 3) able to become a huge freaking dragon.

This is so stupid and reaching, I barely know where to begin.

-Star Lord has always been a white guy with guns. THAT IS THE CHARACTER.
-Shown members of the Nova Corps were black. A woman was fucking Nova Prime, one of the most influential roles in the whole movie. Gamora was one of the most progressive female action characters in years, if not the entire history of the industry.

I can't believe how shitty Cracked has gotten to appeal to the SJW crowd.
