(Anonymous) 2014-08-21 12:29 am (UTC)(link)I think the point is both of them would have been happy to have the other "enslaved" or worse. Anders isn't the one that sold Fenris out, by the way. Fenris would've gotten plus affection points if Hawke betrayed Anders, too.

(Anonymous) 2014-08-21 08:09 am (UTC)(link)If you're a mage and you agree with his ethical position, Anders cares about your freedom. If you're anything but a mage, he gives zero fucks.

Even if you are a mage and you disagree with his position, he doesn't care - for example, Merrill, and any other blood mage, as if he, the willing abomination, has any ground to stand on whatsoever. I feel bad for Anders because he's not the only being at the wheel of his body and mind anymore, but good lord.

i really dont think either of them hated each other enough to personally wrong them in the sense that anders probably wouldnt consider contacting danarius (anders doesnt like blood mages anyway) and fenris wouldnt have anders made tranquil or taken to the circle or killed, what have you.
like i dont think the hate runs that deep. they clearly dont like each other; anders dislikes fenris enough to literally approve of fenris being enslaved again, which is out of character for him in my perspective. they dont get each other. they dont see the parallels in each others' struggles or understand that their cultures are different and that the oppressed and the oppressors and more or less switched in their histories.
but i just dont see them trying their hardest to fuck off the other one. even though anders approves of fenris going back to danarius, the friendship points that nets you is like, 5, iirc. which is the smallest approval increment. still shitty and out of character for him (to me at least) but nothing so big that it wouldnt indicate that anders was just DYING for the opportunity to see it happen. it was just an emotional consequence of him being there when/if it did. and even then, he doesnt gain rivalry with hawke if fenris is defended. tbh i just think that quest itself was a little poorly written in terms of approval.
