I will read just about anything super melodramatic and sad and where the plot is predicated on ridiculous misunderstandings.

I have a weird similar one: I will read just about anything super melodramatic and sad and where the plot is predicated on ridiculous misunderstandings as long as the misunderstandings are not romantic. I got completely maxed out on the fucking "angsty romantic misunderstandings" trope by the time I was about 14, before I even moved from mainstream media to fanfic, that's how oversaturated the trope is. I cannot take it seriously anymore so I can only stand it in comedies.

Any other kind of ridiculous misunderstanding, though? Bring 'em on!

Heeeeeeeee. I hear ya. It is totally overused and cliche and silly. I can't help myself. It's like a sickness.
