27. Uh, are you implying that NO yaoi pairings are about love? Because the three that I actually like (out of the many fandoms that I'm in) most certainly are. Particularly since I'm too prude to even go NEAR porn most of the time.

If not that's cool, I guess. I...have never, ever felt oppressed as a het fan, honestly, but I mostly hung out in Zelda fandoms back in the day, so...

35. Any specific reason? The only complaints I've ever actually heard voiced were about how the characters acted like fucking morons.

I've never been in any Trek fandom, but wow you know, I never even thought about it back then, the whole concept of yaoi/slash didn't occur to me but I bet there is a WORLD of Tuvok/Spender fic isn't there? xD

Surprisingly little, actually - I can think of mmmaybe two or three fics I've ever found, and I've been scouring the web for it off and on for years.

27. Ok, I get the feeling and the sentiment behind this secret; as a 1xR shipper way back in the day, I really do. But, I can't say that I got the feeling of being oppressed for shipping 1xR. I think it is just as ridiculous for a het shipper to cry persecution as it was for aslash fan. I mean I got pissed off at the people who would call me a homophobe and character bash. But oppressed? Not really. I mean they were just pairings. Also squick sex? Am I missing something, I mean I know there is kinky sex in fandom, but two boys have sex seems pretty mild, all things considered.

35. I thought it was awesome, but too each their own.

45. What is with the Wicked backlash lately, it is like everywhere I go everyone is commenting on it. Not saying you are wrong, it is just sort of thing I have been noticing lately.

27. It seems far too many people on both sides of the fence like to throw around words such as "oppression" and "lynching." It's sad, really. I was a 13xU shipper who got mailbombed off a Treize list for not being into 13x6, but I'd hardly call that "oppression" or getting "lynched." Annoying, yes, but it didn't stop me from voting or holding a job, and my neck is very much intact.

35. Word. I was a "meh" about the season's beginning, but everything from 3x06 onward has made me fall in love with it all over again. 3x10-11 especially. OMG ZUKO FINAL-FUCKING-MENTE!

11. I really hate when people pull the whole "I liked it before it was popular" schtick. Like, really, absolutely hate it. I hate it when people feel all superior and shit because they knew about something before someone else did. Big fucking deal, want a cookie?

That being said, considering the fandom... I can kind of see why it would turn someone away. I've only been in it for a bit over five months, but it takes a lot of willpower not to get overwhelmed by the, um, enthusiasm and be like "Screw this, I'm going home." I don't think it'd make me stop liking the series, though.

Dear 14 OP,

Thanks to the cynical nature I have developed regarding the world, and the internet in particular, I shall just believe this is just a fake secret. Sorry if it isn't, but you must understand why one wouldn't take this as easy to believe. Good news, I think the secret is just as win if it is fake as it would be if true. I mean, true would be awesome, because that meant an actor knew of F!S, which would be fucking awesome, but that would also mean that you had the potential to become horrified if people did use your character more in fics and art. Fandom is weird like that. If the secret is fake, it's the coolest fake secret ever and it made my DAY.

P.S. (But I really truly hope this is real and you are who you say you are. Especially if you are from House, it's the only medical drama I have time/will to keep up with these days. Any of the recurring females would be cool, but I really wouldn't mind the guys. I just fear for what might happen if you were to reveal yourself.
