If something was trying to eat me alive and it was moaning and limping around without any signs of intelligence or thought beyond 'nom nom nom human braaaaaaaaaains' then I would kill it too. I'm with Michonne on this one. Kill all the zombies.

Y'know, I don't even care about the signs of intelligence.

If something (a super-intelligent bear! or an alien!) is walking around and trying to eat me alive, I'm gonna freaking kill it. If it's so damn smart, maybe it should have used some of that intelligence to NOT eat me. Damn zombies.

Seriously. Thrice cursed zombies started the apocalypse and the breakdown of civilization. Who cares if they're smart when they're trying to destroy humanity?

Actually, did we ever find out what's going on outside of America? Obviously, the East Coast is toast. What about Canada? Europe? Africa? Are they done for as well?

(Anonymous) 2014-08-23 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
I can answer for Canada, because not only am I Canadian, but I can see into the future (zombie-apocalypses only - doesn't work on the lotto). Once the power grid went out, we mostly all died out when the winter came. Too long and too cold (BC might have squeaked by, since they don't get so cold, but we're largely done for in the prairie provinces). I expect there are pockets of life out on the farms and some northern communities, but the city dwellers are toast. Too many people, not enough resources, and winter is always coming. ;)

If you're in a nice southern clime, you have to prepare more. I just have to prepare to die.

Geez, that's depressing. Y'all can't just get some coats or something? Does anybody know how to build a fire?

Me, I live in South Carolina. Relatively small population, lots of weaponry.

And then we all die of heat stroke in the summer.

(I AM SO DONE WITH THIS HUMIDITY AAAAAAAAAAARGH)

Do you live on the coast? It's a smidge better further inland.

[personal profile] leikomgwtfbbq 2014-08-23 11:24 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. I work a few blocks from the ocean @_@

(Anonymous) 2014-08-23 02:01 am (UTC)(link)
There's plenty of trees around in the city - could chop them down - but not too many old-style fireplaces, which makes it difficult to keep warm without burning the house down. Also, until more people die off, we're gonna burn through those trees in no time. We do have a river running through the city, so at least we've got water.

We could probably get by through most of the winter (if we've stolen enough food from somewhere), but once one of those cold fronts settles in? Minus 40 is a bummer.

I mean, I'm going on the theory that the zombie apocalypse is a surprise, and that we haven't actually planned for it. In which case, we'll die for lack of our infrastructure.

You'll do better. Every time you see a zombie, shoot it for me! (In the movie of your zombie!life, I can be your fridged!Canadian motivation.)

I will fight for you, Canada Anon. I will blow the heads off of zombies and then lift my weapon to the sky and shout, "For CANADA ANON!"

(Anonymous) 2014-08-23 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
:'-) Happy tear. Cue misty scene of me watching over you from the afterlife: "God bless you, Iceyred! Kill them all!"

I can't wait to see this movie.

It's gonna be a great movie. I'll dress like a viking (it's the zombie apocalypse, who wouldn't want to be dressed as a viking?) and have a battle axe and shield.

(Anonymous) 2014-08-23 02:00 am (UTC)(link)
Penny wasn't. She was in a straight jacket and posed no threat.
iceyred: By singlestar1990 (Default)

[personal profile] iceyred 2014-08-23 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
Things that can and will eat me pose a threat. Straight jackets can be removed.

(Anonymous) 2014-08-23 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
Would you kill a tiger at a zoo?
iceyred: By singlestar1990 (Default)

[personal profile] iceyred 2014-08-23 02:33 am (UTC)(link)
If it was in a situation where it could eat me? Yes. And I would wear it's fur as a warning to other tigers about what happens to creatures that cross me.

(Anonymous) 2014-08-23 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
If it's locked up, how would it eat you?
iceyred: By singlestar1990 (Default)

[personal profile] iceyred 2014-08-23 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
If it's locked up then I'll trust a lock more than I'll trust a straight jacket. If it's locked up then it gets to live.

If it's out of it's cage then one of us is going down. I didn't climb to the top of the food chain to get eaten by a tiger. Or a zombie.

So you think a little girl could easily escape from something most grown men couldn't?
iceyred: By singlestar1990 (Default)

[personal profile] iceyred 2014-08-23 03:11 am (UTC)(link)
Nope. But someone could release her. And sic her on me because I am their enemy.

(Anonymous) 2014-08-23 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
Except the Governor put his gun down and surrendered.

As I recall, he was a slimy bastard who was willing to lie to everyone. I wouldn't trust him.

(Anonymous) 2014-08-23 03:50 am (UTC)(link)
It's not even a matter of trust at this point. Michonne had the upper hand. The gun was down. If he had attempted to sic Penny on her, it would take two seconds for her to dispatch what was one individual little girl. Michonne's actions had nothing to do with survival.

I support eliminating threats before it becomes a matter of survival.

Let's go over the many reasons why this is a really bad analogy:

1. Tigers are living beings that naturally inhabit our ecosystem. They are often endangered, and killing them harms the survivability of the species. We should be concerned about that.
2. Tigers as a species are not overall too dangerous to most humans. They are not a natural threat. Zombies are an unnatural threat, and each one is incredibly dangerous to not just one humans, but every human beyond that via infection.
3. Our current civilization is a place where even when tigers are kept locked up--i.e. zoos--you can trust on the infrastructure of society at large to keep you safe. Tigers are not an inherent threat. Not so with zombies, where your safety has no stability. A tiger locked up in a zoo in this scenario I can easily see being killed for survival purposes.
4. In a similar scenario of a maneating tiger that's ravenous to eat anyone it sees locked up by a maniac who is under their control, and the maniac is at your mercy, what do you choose to do with the tiger? Leave it? For what purpose? It can never be let go, and there's no reason to keep it alive. Do you let it starve? Is this more merciful?
