(Anonymous) 2014-08-23 01:12 am (UTC)(link)If something (a super-intelligent bear! or an alien!) is walking around and trying to eat me alive, I'm gonna freaking kill it. If it's so damn smart, maybe it should have used some of that intelligence to NOT eat me. Damn zombies.

Actually, did we ever find out what's going on outside of America? Obviously, the East Coast is toast. What about Canada? Europe? Africa? Are they done for as well?

(Anonymous) 2014-08-23 02:01 am (UTC)(link)We could probably get by through most of the winter (if we've stolen enough food from somewhere), but once one of those cold fronts settles in? Minus 40 is a bummer.
I mean, I'm going on the theory that the zombie apocalypse is a surprise, and that we haven't actually planned for it. In which case, we'll die for lack of our infrastructure.
You'll do better. Every time you see a zombie, shoot it for me! (In the movie of your zombie!life, I can be your fridged!Canadian motivation.)

If it's out of it's cage then one of us is going down. I didn't climb to the top of the food chain to get eaten by a tiger. Or a zombie.

(Anonymous) 2014-08-23 06:42 am (UTC)(link)1. Tigers are living beings that naturally inhabit our ecosystem. They are often endangered, and killing them harms the survivability of the species. We should be concerned about that.
2. Tigers as a species are not overall too dangerous to most humans. They are not a natural threat. Zombies are an unnatural threat, and each one is incredibly dangerous to not just one humans, but every human beyond that via infection.
3. Our current civilization is a place where even when tigers are kept locked up--i.e. zoos--you can trust on the infrastructure of society at large to keep you safe. Tigers are not an inherent threat. Not so with zombies, where your safety has no stability. A tiger locked up in a zoo in this scenario I can easily see being killed for survival purposes.
4. In a similar scenario of a maneating tiger that's ravenous to eat anyone it sees locked up by a maniac who is under their control, and the maniac is at your mercy, what do you choose to do with the tiger? Leave it? For what purpose? It can never be let go, and there's no reason to keep it alive. Do you let it starve? Is this more merciful?
