Thanks for making me relive the trauma of that scene in Fern Gully OP!

But seriously, I have commented anon occasionally because sometimes I worry about accidentally starting wank. I also posted a reply that made no sense when I read it in the morning (I'd had a few beers) so all these irritated responses in my inbox sort of confused me until I read what I'd written. Yeah, won't make that mistake again!

I would never go off anon here. People can way vicious here for opinions.

Aww I'm sorry anon. I really don't understand the viciousness sometimes because maybe I'm a huge hippy but I take the "live and let live" approach to different opinions so if someone disagrees with me I accept it (unless it's spectacularly off the mark) and might even see what they mean but point out why I don't agree with them. I love different opinions because I enjoy well thought-out debates. I tend to stick to MCU threads because those always seem to end with fic recs and people being civil bar one or two exceptions.

Having said that, I've seen threads getting pretty brutal before so I just tend to stay out of those.

People are very strident and have very strong opinions but many other places on the internet are much meaner. I think people here are generally civil if nothing else.

I was wondering where this pic was from. I kept thinking maybe it was from The Black Cauldron.

This is exactly how I feel, too, OP :-)

I'm too lazy to go anon (if I can't think of a way to word my comment I don't leave one), but I see no problem with doing that. If it makes you feel more comfortable, that's fine!

And I feel you; it's always nice when people agree with your comments. (And in turn don't seem to think you made an utter fool of yourself and could actually understand what you were trying to say!)

It's always a nice feeling when your post leads to interesting discussion. I hope you stick around, OP!
Pic related: Hexxus was one of the few animated villains who legitimately scared me as a kid. I still enjoyed "Toxic Love" though.

(Anonymous) 2014-08-24 09:54 pm (UTC)(link)
I must've been six years old when that movie came out, and I still remember retreating to the furthest edge of the bed or hiding alongside it when Hexxus became a skeletal figure. Ugh. I was barely spooked by anything as a kid, but that black skeleton writhing around did it.

To the point of the secret: I agree with you. I never go off anon to comment, but getting +1 comments and other forms of agreement does feel validating. Glad it's a morale-booster for you, too.

(Anonymous) 2014-08-24 11:10 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm alwasy anon, but I love that feeling too. It's also nice to see the same named users replaying and agreeing with you multiple times, even when they don't know they're agreeing with the same person - it gives me a feel that they must be my type of people, you know, and it feels good to be consistently agreed with.

(Anonymous) 2014-08-24 11:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't go off anon either, just in case wank starts. But it does feel awesome when people agree with you, anon or not.

*high five* Nonny. :)

I'm always glad to to get engaged in conversation here too; so many times you leave a comment that doesn't get answered, so it's really nice to be pulled into an actual back-and-forth.

Offtopic, but how did your your appoinment with the hairdresser go? Are you enjoying the color. Are you rocking it?
lunabee34: (Default)

[personal profile] lunabee34 2014-08-25 02:47 am (UTC)(link)
Awwww, you remembered! :)

It went well. I am enjoying it in most aspects. We went with a bit of a shorter bob, and she dyed the underneath layer of my hair purple, and the top is a dark red so the purple peeks out underneath. I keep meaning to post pics to my journal and forgetting. I will link here when I finally do. :)

My only issue is that the purple dye has continued to leak from my hair. Like, when I get my hair dyed, normally for three days or so, when I wash my hair, some dye runs in the shower, and I sleep on a crap pillow case because some dye transfers to my pillow. Then it's done, and I spend the next eight weeks with no dye transfer. It'll be three weeks on Tuesday, and I've still got pink water in the shower. All this to say that I am afraid to wear my pearls because I do not want to stain those fuckers with dye. And I love wearing my pearls. LOL So I think I'm keeping this cut/color combo until December and then prob going back to what I had, posisbly with one purple streak in front that won't be an issue with the pearls.

Eta: also lots of compliments! I think my students finally think I'm cool. LOL

Of course I remembered! I was going to bring it up way before now, but had no idea when. Thought that post of yours was a good chance to. :3

I'm glad that you're enjoying it! It sounds absolutely stunning and I'd love to see pictures! I've only tried to dye my hair once and it turned out terrible. How long does dye leak for? Is that nornal? I hope that it stops and you can wear your pearls without fear of staining them. Your old hairstyle was pretty rocking too. :)

I'm glad that you've positive feedback from your students see? I told you that you had nothing to worry about. And dear lunabee, you were always cool. Your students were just a bit slow on the uptake, that's all.

*hugs hugs*

Whenever I used to dye my own hair with like Loreal or something, there was no dye transfer at all.

when I get my hair professionally dyed, it's usually several days.

I think it's because the purple is so vivid. I'm scheduled to get the purple refreshed at four weeks; it's already faded despite me taking stellar care of it. So essentially for the duration of this 'do, I can't wear the pearls. But I'm cool with shelving them for a semester.

:)

What went wrong with your dye job?

(Anonymous) 2014-08-25 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
*hugs* ♥

Huh, that's a bit odd. Is it because they use stronger dyes? Awe, it is a shame that it has faded. Hopefully it hasn't faded too much. Good luck with your next appointment! Before you know it, December will be here and you and your pearls will be reunited, lol.

I tried to dye my hair blonde and instead it came out reddish brown. I was crushed.

[personal profile] lunabee34 2014-08-25 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
It must be because it's a stronger dye.

What color was your hair originally? Because if you had any color hair besides blond and decided to dye it blonde, LOL, it probably needed to be bleached first.

(Anonymous) 2014-08-25 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
My hair is black. I was like thirteen and my mom and dad were indulging me. I don't think we bleached it first so that's probably where we went wrong.

[personal profile] lunabee34 2014-08-25 11:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Awwww. How awesome that your parents supported you. :)

Unfortunately, when you are making a drastic color change, especially from dark to light, you have to bleach it first, or it just goes all wonky. :(

(Anonymous) 2014-08-26 05:42 am (UTC)(link)
It really was awesome of them. ♥

I wished I'd known that sooner. But it's okay, I'm over wanting my hair to be blonde. :)

[personal profile] lunabee34 2014-08-27 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
Blonde is just about the only color I've never been. every hairdresser I've ever had has told me I'd look awful as a blonde, and then one of them gave me some blonde highlights right around my face, and it looked so bad. It washed me out and made me look old. Horrible.
