That wouldn't fly in real life?

Anon pls

(Anonymous) 2014-08-30 08:22 pm (UTC)(link)
I really like that top actress. Based on your discription of her character, I'm glad L&O: Criminal Intent is the only one I could never get into.

(Anonymous) 2014-08-30 09:03 pm (UTC)(link)
The character in question only appears in a handful of episodes, though. The main characters (Detectives Goren and Eames) are awesome.

(Anonymous) 2014-08-30 09:30 pm (UTC)(link)
There are not enough words to describe how awesome they are. They're my favorite partner set in all the Law & Orders.

re Ammy - what kind of job it is, kissing people?

In RL being pretty or looking like you know what you're about solves many problems. I don't imply that being pretty is bad.

Only ginger can call other gingers ginger.

(Anonymous) 2014-08-31 01:10 am (UTC)(link)
The Doctor calls them ginger. Of course, that probably has more to do with him wanting to be a ginger himself.

[personal profile] solticisekf 2014-08-31 12:43 pm (UTC)(link)
He does? oO

(Anonymous) 2014-08-30 08:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Odd question, was it ever really explained why Amy was in a police uniform? Was it just a play costume type?

(Anonymous) 2014-08-30 08:56 pm (UTC)(link)
It's just a costume. Her job was delivering kiss-o-grams.

Falacci, really?

(Anonymous) 2014-08-30 10:42 pm (UTC)(link)
She was in, like, five episodes. Wheeler was the one that sort of annoyed me. Eames, of course, was the best. Barek and Stevens were good also.

I kind of liked Falacci tbh, but I think her attitude would've gotten old fast if she hadn't just been temporary. I couldn't stand Nichols and Stevens mostly bored me, although I think I would've liked her more if she'd had a different partner. Nobody on that show held a candle to Goren and Eames, though.

Re: Falacci, really?

Wheeler wasn't my favorite, but Falacci was bizarrely aggressive. I don't mean "aggressive for a woman but it'd be okay if she were a man", I mean to a ridiculous extent. She did mouth off to the Captain, who just sort of raised his eyebrows and went "...okaaaaay then" in a way he never did for anyone else. He never hesitated to put Goren in his place if Goren was out of line, so it felt out of place.

(Anonymous) 2014-08-30 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh Anon, no way. Karen Gillan is an awesome actress. I'm sorry you didn't like Amy, but Karen has mad acting skills.

(Anonymous) 2014-08-31 03:00 am (UTC)(link)
Is this a common opinion? I didn't care for her character mostly because it felt really one note and flat to me, and thought it was partly due to Gillan's acting. She was very pretty, but lacked range in a way that's very conspicuous in a British production.

(Anonymous) 2014-08-31 03:57 am (UTC)(link)
I think she's good, too!

(Anonymous) 2014-08-31 10:11 am (UTC)(link)
She was a bit eh at first, but she grew much better over time. S5!Amy didn't have the range S7!Amy did.

+1000000000 on Karen Gillan's Amy Pond portrayal.
I've never seen anything for Karen outside of Doctor Who except for her minor role on Guardians of the Galaxy and I was expecting her to be dull again but I thought she was very good and I was impressed. Or maybe it's because she had colored face so you'd hardly need any expressions with paint on your face.

But you gotta admit, she made an awful, awful Amy.

(Anonymous) 2014-09-01 08:22 am (UTC)(link)
No. Don't gotta admit.

(Anonymous) 2014-09-03 03:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, she was horrible.

(Anonymous) 2014-08-31 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
Ugh, was the "eye-candy" comment really that necessary
:\

If they weren't cast for their acting skills, why do you think they were hired, then?

Falacci love for a change

[personal profile] elephantinegrace 2014-08-31 01:12 am (UTC)(link)
Am I the only person in this entire site who liked her the most? I mean, it was really nice seeing Logan be the sane one, for once, like scratching an itch I didn't know I had.

She wasn't my favorite, but I did like her mostly for that reason. After Logan had been part of the franchise for so long, it was nice to see someone bring out something new in him.

Re: Falacci love for a change

(Anonymous) 2014-08-31 03:03 am (UTC)(link)
I liked seeing Logan as the reasonable partner, but thought it was pretty lame they had to make Falacci's character so unreasonably bitchy in order to do that. It just felt unnecessary, and turned the dynamic into Chill Rational Logan vs. Crazy Female Falacci. It rubbed me the wrong way.
