I don't think there is any way of doing it wrong as you aren't trying to ruin other people doing it their own way.

Personally, I've never been attracted to any of the Doctors. I'd love to travel with him. I'd love to be him. But I don't in any way want to date or sleep with him.

Capaldi is a million times more attractive than Matt Smith.

So when I see fanboys being like "now those gross fangirls won't be in our fandom" (because obviously thinking the lead is attractive is the only reason women might watch Doctor Who), I just laugh and laugh and laugh.

Depending on the age and/or preferences of the viewer, it's not at all weird that anyone would find Capaldi more attractive than Smith (or any doctor over any other doctor).

I've got a thing for David Tennant and also thought Matt Smith's Doctor was pretty hot too

But I can definitely see the Capuldi thing. He's pretty good looking for a 56 year old guy. He doesn't give me "I wanna bang you" feelings, but I'd consider him "handsome" at the very least

I want his coat. I've never wanted any of the new Doctors' style (though I did want the 4th's scarf). But there is something the way 12 flips the bottom edges back, showing the scarlet lining that is just so cool. There's something hip and confident about 12 that wasn't there in the 9 through 11 versions of him. I don't know what it is. But I think I understand you.

I honestly find the "Oh he's old so young women won't like him!" attitude weird when there have been fangirls even of the older and less attractive Doctors.

But IA Op, I find him way more attractive then the show thinks I should.

He's a ton more attractive to me than the last 2. (Three if you count the War Doctor.) I have been trying to contain any commentary about how hot I think he is when we watch since we've decided our daughter is old enough to stay up and watch with us.

I saw a post on tumblr with someone complaining that the Doctor was being played by a 56 year old and that was *wrong*.

I helpfully pointed out that Paul McGann was 53 when he filmed Night of the Doctor. And I think he looks even scrummier now then he did in 1996.

Is this something you're getting from the show or from fandom? It's a bit odd if the show is going out of its way to comment on how attractive he is, but if it's fandom I'd say just ignore them. (Sorry, not all that familiar with the show.)

I am SO with you. Like, I think Matt Smith is cute, and David Tennant is a total babe, of course, but I have such a huge crush on Peter Capaldi that my stomach goes all flippy when I see him. I loooove him. I would do all kinds of things with him. So I too am thrown off by the assumption that young women will no longer be attracted to him (I'm 22). I mean, I don't expect EVERYONE to feel as I do, but it's certainly not a negligible amount of people that would agree!

He's the first Doctor since Nine I've actually found hot. I mean, I don't need to find the Doctor hot, but it's kind of nice (first crush was Four, haha I'm old.)

But also, as a fan of The Thick of It and The Hour, I'm pretty entertained watching fandom realize how smoking hot he is. I no longer feel so weird!
