Because you're so mature you have to call anyone who like something you don't a stupid teenager or someone into cheap gimmick games.

Where did I say anyone was a "stupid" teenager?

Oh, right, I didn't. But this trend of gimmicky indie horror games like Slenderman (you'll note I didn't say anything about their overall quality, just that Freddie's in particular sucks) seem to be really popular with the under-21 set, so..... what was your point again?

(Anonymous) 2014-09-08 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
You use it and phrase it like an insult, regardless. Like you're above it because it's "cheap" and "only teenagers or people less mature than me will like it." And this isn't the first time I've seen you being elitist (and yes, that's immature) about things you dislike.

When I said "cheap" I meant "inexpensive," Christ what do you want?

You're inferring an awful lot. Stop.

Considering cheap can easily (and often does) mean "shoddy" or "of poor quality," maybe learn to read over your posts so that your distaste and elitism doesn't show through.

Or maybe you could just stop reading whatever the fuck you want out of my posts.

I could say the sky is blue and you'd call that elitist.

"consumers of cheap indie horror gimmick games"

"consumers of poor quality indie horror gimmick games"

"consumers of inexpensive cost-wise indie horror gimmick games"

Which one makes more sense, I wonder?

You used common slang that means "poor quality" in a sentence that easily leads to that meaning, and you're pissed more than one person read it that way.

To bring back and old meme: intent isn't fucking magical. The fact that this isn't the first time someone has called you on this should tell you something.

Well excuse the fuck out of me I didn't write my comment to your exact fucking specifications. I'm not pissed about anything except one anon giving me shit because she didn't like that I don't like a game and said a few nasty things about it.

Why do you even fucking care? Clearly you don't like me so why even waste your time?

lol it seems pretty easy to ignore any concept of a communication breakdown happening over the internet, go anon, and cry a little. I personally don't bother with anons like that anymore.

Anyways, I'm always interested in what you have to say about stuff like this. Even if I haven't played the game (which I haven't, and probably never will).

I read that teenager part as the fact that when you were 16 you weren't old enough to have experienced the gamut of horror games that depend on gimmicky jump scares to be "scary." So Resident Evil and it's jump scares scared you at the time, like it would anyone else with the same amount of experience with horror games. Therefore, you wouldn't recommend it to anyone but those new to the genre, because those still work on them, therefore they might enjoy it while you didn't.

It's clear to me. /shrug

YESTHISEXACTLYCHRIST

I mean I suppose I could be more clear, but I'm not obligated to explain myself to people who seem to only care about criticizing everything I say.

Feh, it's the same with fanfic, and people creaming themselves over tropey cliche high school AU fics that the rest of us who have been in fandom for a long time are like "not ANOTHER one" at. I would have liked that when I was 14. That doesn't make the fics bad, just extremely common and not particularly noteworthy. That also doesn't make 14 year old me stupid, just new.

(Anonymous) 2014-09-09 06:37 am (UTC)(link)
This is it exactly. It relies entirely on jump scares for its horror, so if you've played any amount of horror games, you're not gonna find it scary.

It would've worked better if it interspersed the jump scares with something else, but when you're anticipating jump scares, the effect is lost.
