I guess it depends on whether you are of the "An eye for an eye" way of thinking, or of the "Don't descend to their level" mode. Spoiler:Of course, if Henrik did "learn" anything from his forced insemination -- such as what it feels like to be helpless while someone does things to your body without your consent -- the lesson didn't last long before he DIAF. Personally, I think the scene shown in my icon is more awesome: instead of being a vindictive angel of death, Helena is starting to form bonds to others.

ETA: I do wish they'd shown her and Gracie saving the kids from the fire; I read that they filmed that scene but had to cut it for time. I think that small act would have been a strong character moment for both of them.

The way fandom treats Helena in general makes me really uncomfortable. The show takes itself way too seriously to afford sweeping under the rug the fact that she is an UNSTABLE KILLER. But no, let's leave her alone with Felix because wacky hijinks and funniez, and "seestra, we make a family" so I guess everything's magically all right now.

There are SO MANY things about this season that have bugged the shit out of me, to the point that my favourite characters are Mrs S and Angie and I want to punch the rest of them in the face.

A lot of people ignoring the unstable shit with Helena to make her a ~*sleepy murder baby angel*~ drives me nuts. Not sure if the show's to blame or just fandom in general cutesfying all dark characters.

I'd say the show forgives her a lot.

ayrt

YES. "Sleepy murder baby angel" sounds about right. I blame the show for that, though, because if they actually treated Helena like the psycho she is and didn't enable scenes like "lol brother seestra" or "let's leave her alone with Art cause THAT'S wise but lol she likes to eat isn't that cute," fans would probably still woobify her, but there'd be a definite feel of strict "fanon-ness" about it.

When shows treat any characters who are unstable and killers as cute without addressing how fucked up they probably are, it throws off my suspension of disbelief tbh.

eh, i liked it

helena is definitely an unstable psycho and i'm always on edge with her, but that's why i like her

that guy was a creep and did some fucked up shit to helena and actually managed to manipulate her into thinking what was happening was okay, and i feel no pity for him

Seconded. He had it coming.

Most of the stuff on the farm just made me cringe most of the time. I really don't think they should have taken any of it as far as they did.

Luckily the rest of the season was pretty awesome and Helena got some solid character development.

I agree. But I have problems with how the show treats Helena in general (how it pretty much ignores the fact that she murdered clones and she and Sarah's surrogate mother). I find Helena pretty pathetic and I feel for her but I also think it's odd to say the least that the show forgives her for so much.
