Re: In honor of #3
-DP fic where Danny's parents are turned OOC!abusive for angst. Like I get good fics about "what if his parents rejected him" but they have to be well written. But fics where they abuse him for no reason than "the dramaz" are just...ick.

Also some of the Dumbledore characterizations are laughable.

Re: In honor of #3
Dumbledore being out and out evil, stealing money from Harry's bank accounts, trying to force him to date someone he doesn't like, and whatnot are not in-character at all.
TBH I would expect this kind of thing from a young writer. Someone who hasn't developed subtly an nuance. I once wrote a story when I was 16 or 17 where a character was supposed to be sorta evil and nobody realized it but some kid character who was his sibling. When I looked at the story again I couldn't help but laugh because I realized that the evil character was so obviously evil that you'd have to be an idiot not to realize he was up to something sinister.
I guess its the same thing with the Dumbledore characterizations. they go so overboard in the EVIL part and forget nuance or subtlety.
Also the stories where everyone is trying to keep Harry and Hermione apart or Harry is forced to date Ginny instead to be really stupid. The fact that the whole damn wizard world cares who a teenager is dating is just..."what?"
Re: In honor of #3
I find that a lot of independent harry fics, while containing the character bashing that you mention (and which I hate) and also making Harry into some amalgamation of Merlin and Jesus, also contain some really interesting worldbuilding and plot elements.
so, I ah, read a lot of that. LOL
I read anything in HP, though, no matter how ridiculous. I have standards for other fandoms, just not that one.
Re: In honor of #3
well now that you mention it that is true. I've seen some with great worldbuilding- even one that explored South America, and it was really cool (and pulled off second person surprisingly well) but I was put off of it by the author's attitudes. (in the 2nd person South America one , it had a sequel that had some serious "my work is better than canon" that REALLY grated on me)
I can understand though Some people can look past those things and that's cool.

Re: In honor of #3
I once put up with a few stories in a DP continuation series with a half ghost Sam set post Phantom Planet, because it had a good story involving Danielle. *shrug*
I also once read a DPHP crossover and enjoyed a lot of it in spite of the author's AU Twin Sister of Danny OC that was...kind of a Mary Sue. It had other things I liked at the time..like the idea that Vlad Masters went to Hogwarts.
It happens to all of us.
