Traits everyone else seems to like

(Anonymous) 2014-09-15 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
but you don't. Kind of the opposite of a weird turn-ons thread.

Mine:

- Muscles. It seems like someone pretty much decided that the definition of attractiveness for men was having big muscles... and it's a big turnoff for me. Especially if it's obvious that you've been spending hours in the gym (rather than getting some muscle from hard work, which at least looks a little bit more natural).

- I don't find giant lips too attractive. Like Angelina Jolie (otherwise pretty) or the Homestuck guy.

- Tans. I know I'm not the only one who dislikes fake orange tans, but natural ones only look good on some people to me, and I don't think I'm one of them, so I really dislike getting tanned in the summer (and no, dimwit trolls, I'm not talking about people who naturally have darker skin because of their race).

- Really angular faces on men.

Blond hair. No offense to any blonds out there. I was born a natural blond and used to dye it red when I was a teenager. Now it has turned light brown with blond streaks as I have aged. (I now dye it a darker brown.) But I have never been impressed by blond hair.

My older brother is blond and he's never cared for blond hair either. I think there was even a study that showed that the more common blond hair is in a given location, the less people consider it an especially attractive trait.

I think blonds are hot as fuck, myself, but I'm not one.

I think most of my dislike comes from how blond hair is way overrepresented in Western media, especially among female actors. Otherwise I wouldn't care.

Butts. I don't hate them, they just don't appeal to me.

I don't get it either. You sit on them and you poop from them. I just don't get what's supposed to be so appealing from that...

Hear, hear. I have no idea why people go crazy over them. I don't even know what constitutes a supposedly good one.

Chiseled and square jaws. I can't really describe it, but I don't like it at all.

High cheekbones usually don't do it for me either.

The "Dorito" silhouette like Chris Evans has. It just looks very uncanny valley to me, like from the ribs up he isn't attached or came from a different body.

Sideburns. I've not yet seen a guy with sideburns and thought he wouldn't look better without them.

Sideburns are indeed awful.

I only like sideburns on Mr. Darcy.

Sideburns are "nope" with one exception:
60s Elvis.
On him, they were rawr.
Unfortunately, then he turned into 70s Elvis :( forever turning sideburns on anybody to "nope".

For guys to be significantly taller than you.

It's not like I find it unattractive, I just don't get why so many women find it so very important. Really, unless you're a dwarf or a giant I I just find it to be such a weird thing to be hung up about. And even the latter would have exception, Dinklage*cough* Dinklage.

I agree (except for not being attracted to Peter Dinklage). I would prefer a guy to be close to my own height, but if they were significantly taller or shorter, it wouldn't bother me.

I'm with you on the giant lips. They look very creepy. Like something out of a horror movie about bees where the character has a horrible allergic reaction to being stung.

The unkempt look is overrated. I don't mind a little bit of scruffiness and slightly mussed hair, but there comes a point where I want to take a comb and neaten everything up. (Looking at you, Will Graham. Comb that hair!)

yea muscles with me too. a little bit of muscle is nice, maybe like an athletic runners build. anything much more than that and i find it unattractive.

Men with lots of chest hair. I wax my own chest and I can handle some but too much and it turns me off.

I agree with you on all of that so much, except I'm not sure about angular faces. I don't think I can picture an example clearly enough to say. My other one would be body hair on men.

Natural muscle (gained through sports/physical work) is more attractive than vanity muscle, I agree, but it leaves the people who don't have physical jobs kind of boned. At least do some kind of activity that isn't pure bulking, gentlemen. We all know what that's going to turn into the second you start aging/stop exercising.

I guess I was also kind of raised on the whole "tall, dark, and handsome" thing but it somehow didn't stick: a) I don't really give a shit about a man's height and have dated shorter, b) I strongly prefer fair-haired men (though I found that unlike the stereotype IRL women often do), and c) handsome is a matter of opinion.

I don't like Skinny or narrow hips in a man. Little hipster hips, I call them. Or those patches of hair underneath a guy's bottom lip.

Female wise: big tits. I mean, I like breasts pretty much any way you got 'em, but beyond a certain cup size I start to actively get turned off. That cup size is about a C on shorter women (although I once had a thing with a girl who was a natural DD at 5'2" and she looked great).

Male wise: huge cocks. I'm basically the opposite of a size queen, which always seems to surprise the gaybros I run into.

Basically I don't like things that look comically large or out of proportion on a person and that includes the things that are "supposed" to be sexy when bigger.

hi anon are you me?

I don't have strong opinions about tans or lips (I mean I don't love REALLY big lips but I didn't think that was a common thing to like anyway?) but the first and last are spot on. Muscles are boring. Angular faces are...too angular? How to describe it? Just really not my thing.

And you kinda took what my answer would have been, so I'll leave it at that XD

I don't find overly perfect-looking people of either sex to be attractive. I know I'm not alone in this, but it's the flaws that make someone sexy to me. I can appreciate just pure beauty, but don't find it sexy.

I'm with you on muscles. Turn off for me. I like lanky men.

Also tattoos/piercings. It's not a deal breaker or anything but I don't find it attractive and it makes me squeamish.

Do personalities count? If so, then brooding/rough around the edges/jerky.

Superhero-esque lantern jaws. That tired messy unshaven look every damn male protagonist on the planet seems to have. Big hair. Thin lips (big fan of giant lips myself). Not really a trait but I just have to mention it: Fucking skinny jeans.
