i'm pretty sure most of you are reading way too far into op's secret. they just don't feel obligated to like characters that they deem to be "bad people" regardless of how well characterized they are.

honestly, i can't think of anyone who doesn't have something like that. for instance, i don't unilaterally hate villains or something, but if a character is, say, flagrantly sexist, i'm not going to like them no matter how well written they are. this doesn't seem unreasonable to me.

No, they didn't say that. They said they hate reading about bad people. There really isn't anything more black and white than that.

I'm not sure they actually said that but I agree with you. There are some characters that I just can't like, well-written or not.

But that's not what the secret's about. Nobody says you have to LIKE characters who do bad things. The referenced tumblr post is drawing a very logical distinction between quality of writing/characterization and quality of the character's morality. The OP is literally saying "fuck that" because they choose to judge characters on how they behave. Which is fine, except that this is only one way in which to assess a character, and it completely neglects to assess the writing... which is what the tumblr post is talking about.
