In my fandom, "longfic" is anything that approaches the 1K mark.

It used to be anything over 10K.

Most people are posting shortfics these days, 500 words if you're lucky. Or "ideas for stories" that never get written, where the author shares a spot of headfic and it stops at that.

Ugh, the tiny headcanons that never go anywhere depress me. It's like nobody cares about actual WRITING anymore, you know? When I started writing I was so proud when I was hitting the higher Ks for fic chapters, and recently I actually found myself going shorter 'cause it feels like the audience just isn't interested in long chapters.
How the hell is 1k long???

Definitely on the attention span thing :(
