That episode was dark, but without being grimdark like the current DC movies. Just that 2nd parter of a 2 part did more to convey and display the nature of heroism in 25 minutes than the entire Dark Knight trilogy and Man of Steel movies did. Fuckit DC, put stuff like that on screen. And it didn't end with anything morally ambiguous or murky either.

Exactly. The JL might've been flawed, but they were a likeable flawed. They were flawed and they still tried to do the right thing.

When we talk of heroes making the "hard choices" that is the choice and the answer we want to see.

To switch fandoms for a moment and steal from Doctor Who, better to risk failing at doing the right thing than succeed at doing the wrong thing.

Switching back, if it was animated now, or worse, part of the current DC comic lineup that would end with everyone swallowing the Stepford koolaid for the greater good.
