Exactly. We can theoretically get rid of all the serious, dangerous criminal scum, thereby reducing overcrowding in the prisons, making them safer for non-violent criminals, and providing a deterrent to violent crime.

the issue with that is that there are people who are imprisoned for crimes they didn't actually commit. if you try to kill every criminal convicted of a violent crime, you're bound to kill some people who are innocent.

Then the question becomes, why are non-violent criminals even in prison? Just shut 'em down!

I'm not willing to kill someone who steals a car and goes joyriding. I'm not willing to let them off scot-free either. We'll save prison for people with a chance at being rehabilitated, and bullets for the violent shits of the world.

Prison does a shit job at rehabilitation. I'm all for job training, etc., but all joking aside, I think prison for non-violent criminals is the wrong answer.

I dunno. Property damage might not physically hurt anybody, but it's still a huge mess and the consequences for the victims can be significant. If somebody stole my car, I would kind of want them to learn that crime is a very, very bad idea.
