Haven't seen the new season, and I was sort of reluctant because of the Frozen thing. Did they handle it okay-ish?

(Anonymous) 2014-11-07 12:28 am (UTC)(link)
Not OP, and I'm probably not your typical viewer, but I'm really enjoying the Frozen stuff. I'm kind of dreading getting to the end of this arc now and going back to more Regina drama - not that there isn't a little now, but it's been backburnered, which is nice (for me).

(Anonymous) 2014-11-07 12:36 am (UTC)(link)
They are handling it much, much better than I expected. I'm enjoying this season more than last.

(Anonymous) 2014-11-07 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
I've been watching OUAT since the beginning, and I was actually leery of the "Frozen" thing, too, since I think I'm about the only person on the planet who hasn't seen it.

That said? Where I once had no interest in seeing "Frozen", I have now been convinced. I like what the characters are adding to the story, and I'm looking forward to seeing where it goes.

I liked Frozen as a film - I just feared that putting it in OUAT would feel terribly forced.

(Anonymous) 2014-11-07 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
Also not OP but a fan of OUAT and I have to say I was highly skeptical of Frozen this season but watching it I have to say its pretty okay. I am liking Elsa's scenes alot more then Anna's but overall its a interesting plot that they've developed.

It has been handled well other than Elsa's costume. Elsa's costume is so awful and cheep looking and so spot on to the movie without being an interpretation like all the other Once costumes are.

(Anonymous) 2014-11-07 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
Anna's clothes aren't that much better to me -- its so brightly colored and costume-y that I can't take it seriously as a everyday outfit.

(Anonymous) 2014-11-07 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
I think ALL the costumes are pretty cheap looking. Some of the "bad guy" costumes have good design, but they all look like they were manufactured by a halloween costume company

I like Elsa's costume better than the Snow Queen's. The Snow Queen's outfit looks so cheap. Every time I look at it I can't stop thinking about how scratchy and uncomfortable it must be to wear.

I was skeptical going in, and it's kinda weird that they treat the Frozen movie as 100% canon, with the only real twist that Elsa's parents were looking to de-magic her when they went out to sea, and died (or so it seems)...

But I'm really liking it Anna is a adorable in the flashbacks, and I'm shipping Elsa, and Emma too... there is this whole "non magic people," don't get us thing that the characters are bonding over... (Emma and Regina to an extent too, though Regina is still sore at Emma for screwing up her love life).

I was prepared to drop it if the Frozen stuff got too hokey, or if Regina backslid too much to being evil, and forcing herself on Robin or killing Marian... I like that she considered it, but is trying to overcome her dark impulses.

I guess I'll go against the consensus and say I'm this close to giving up on the show. They almost lost me after Neverland, but I'm almost finding Frozen worse. They claimed that it wasn't going to take over the show, but it pretty much has. Most of the other characters and stories have been neglected.

I'm good with the story they're doing with it. I like the actresses they got.
But it does sort of stick out like a sore thumb that they're following it so closely to the movie when every other fairy tale has been it's own interpretation.

I think it's worked pretty well, since the casting is very well done and the storyline is focusing on some of the questions Frozen itself didn't answer (mainly concerning where Elsa got her magic from and how it was dealt with by her parents).

(Anonymous) 2014-11-07 12:38 am (UTC)(link)
Is it just me or does Elsa look way bigger than Emma? LOL

Not just you! Did Emma shrink (this IS Disney), or is it the angle?

Haven't watched this season (or even finished last season), but I do think the actresses for Elsa and Anna look gorgeous and might end up watching for them. (Eventually.) I'm glad people aren't hating the Frozen adaption.

tbh i ship anything that's emma/not hook. except swan queen, i won't ship that either.

i've heard mixed reviews about the frozen stuff and it's still not enough to get me to watch season 4. the second half of season 3 was everything under the sun that i didn't want and i can't forgive them for that.

(Anonymous) 2014-11-07 01:42 am (UTC)(link)
I can easily see why people would ship them. I really just see them as friends, which is nice - Emma doesn't really seem to have many friends. But I'd ship them light years before I'd ship SwanQueen.

(Anonymous) 2014-11-07 05:48 am (UTC)(link)
Right there with you, OP and what's more I'm not really a fan of Frozen. I think that movie has enough plot holes, gaps in logic, and questions that aren't answered to keep me from loving it. I do like it because of the music and I get the sister bound because my sister is my best friend. However, I really like Anna and Elsa in the show. I like that they introduced the aunt to give reason as to why Anna and Elsa's parents wanted to hide Elsa's abilities so badly. I like that they're expanding on the issues of family and acceptance from the movie.
I also kind of do ship Emma and Elsa and I'm not one for slash shipping at all. But hell, any relationship Emma and Elsa would have would be way more healthy and interesting than that strangled by the red string crap she has with Hook.

(Anonymous) 2014-11-07 08:07 am (UTC)(link)
You and me both, OP. I'd be OK with them just becoming really good friends, but I'd be really happy if they dated.

(Anonymous) 2014-11-07 10:51 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, but then Elsa would die like all of Emma's loves do.

I really like Georgina Haig as Elsa. And the guy who plays Kristoff is quite good too. I'm not completely sold on Anna because she doesn't quite have the same energy that Kristen Bell had in the role, but I'm being won over. So yes, great casting.

(Anonymous) 2014-11-07 10:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Same, OP. I was really surprised by how spot-on Elsa and Kristoff were, in particular. I think this season's been the best since S1 though, too, at least in terms of keeping me entertained.

I just love anything Snow Queen related. But yeah, Elsa's actress is pretty great.
