I would have bullied the Slytherins so fucking hard

(and then got detention for a million years from Snape and gotten fucked over by them because they're a bunch of rich bullies who are completely capable of looking out for themselves, not a bunch of forlorn woobies, but w/e)

not a bunch of forlorn woobies,

You mean Slytherins aren't like the misunderstood emo kids who write poems like this?

Green - like the grass -

That I step my feet on

Red - it blinds me

Gold teases me, says it gives but

Then takes away

Silver tears down my face

The serpent hisses from within

... I'd be shocked if there's not some fanfic poem out there a lot like this, actually.

did you write this, nonnie? This sounds scarily authentic :DD

(Anonymous) 2014-11-08 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
AYRT - Yup, just as a joke obviously (or I hope obviously). Like I said though, I'm sure someone's done something like that for real.

I did write a fic with a sympathetic Slytherin, but it was less emo and more "yeah, I'm Slytherin, eff off kthxbai."

Accept my compliments. That's some A+ parody skills!

AYRT - Thanks!

I think I can actually taste the emo coming off that poem, anon. That takes some skill.

that's awesome, OP. Sounds like it came straight from Ebony Dark'ness Dementia Raven Way.

Are all Slytherins rich? If Snape managed to get in a lot of people probably could.

I wonder how the classicism would work there. Most of the Slytherins we see from Harry's generation are rich douchebags, but apparently they "look after their own." I can imagine them bullying housemates that aren't old money, though.

I get kind of grossed out when someone tries to make "anti-Slytherin" bias a *thing* and claims to be so offended. I read a tumblr post today that started off "as a proud Slytherin..." No. You are not a "proud Slytherin" because there is no such thing in real life. You're someone who, for whatever reason, identifies with the Slytherin House we are shown in an imaginary universe, but you yourself are not actually a Slytherin. There is no such thing as "anti-Slytherin prejudice" and to to assume a martyr complex based on AN IMAGINARY UNIVERSE is annoying as hell. Real prejudice, real bias exists--against real groups of people. It's annoying as fuck to hear about someone's ersatz martyrdom inspired by an imaginary House (that openly espouses racist values at that) in an imaginary universe.

Ugh, this. I've noticed that especially the Tumblr "Slytherins" are both obnoxiously proud and obnoxiously defensive of their "House", moreso than any self-proclaimed Gryffindors or Ravenclaws or Hufflepuffs. And yes, they're apparently a very oppressed majority.
